To heavy tensioning results in early band fatigue breakage's, and damage to machine wheels and bearings.
Too little tensioning will result in bad cutting, chipped teeth, and band jamming in cut
Correct tensioning is there-fore vital to blade life. Various types of machines have individual requirements and reference should be made to the machine manufacturer's manual for detailed advice.
In general, the band should be so tensioned that it does not slip when working, adjustments may be necessary from time to time to compensate for band stretch in use. It is most important to remember that the tension should be relieved when the machine is not is operation.
